Karimot Odebode
Karimot Odebode is a lawyer, education advocate, and poet from Ibadan, Nigeria. She is a graduate of Law (LL.B.) from Obafemi Awolowo University and the Nigerian Law School, Abuja (BL). Karimot is also an alumna of Harvard University, where she bagged a master’s degree (Ed.M) in Education Policy and Analysis.
She is the author of the poetry collection ‘a woman has many names’ and uses her poetry to foster sustainable development. She created the Transform Education anthem for the United Nations Girls Education Initiative and has been featured by the Global Education Summit, Plan International, and BBC Media Action, International Telecommunications Union, UNICEF amongst others.
Karimot was a key contributor to the Transform Education summit at the United Nations Headquarters in New York where she co-presented the Youth Declaration on Transforming Education at the 77th United Nations General Assembly.
She is one of the 17 Young Leaders for the SDGs recognized by the United Nations, a member of the UNESCO 2024-2025 SDG4 Youth & Students Network, and a Generation Connect African Youth Envoy for the ITU. Karimot has over six years of experience in project management and Advocacy. She is passionate about transforming education and leveraging it as a tool for social change and empowerment, with a focus on gender equality and inclusive education practices.
